SURRENDERING AN ANIMAL

Owners may need to turn over their pets, or concerned citizens may find stray animals. Separation of animals and from their family can be very traumatic, we will offer as much assistance as we can in helping you find solutions that might enable you to keep your pet or make the decision that is best.

A separate entrance titled “Intake” is located to the right of the main entrance and should be used by anyone bringing an animal to the Shelter (surrender or stray).

For customers surrendering their pet(s), there is a fee to help cover our costs. The average cost of housing, spaying/neutering, vaccinating, heartworm/feline leukemia/FIV testing, and feeding each animal is $175 or more. The fee we will ask you for helps us cover just a fraction of these costs. Fees are based on the type of animal, age and number of animals.

Staff will ask for your aid in filling out the appropriate animal sheet with primary information (name, address, location, pet specifics, etc.) and the behavioral sheet to better help us find a home for the animal.

If you find a stray animal at a time that our intake area is not open, please contact your local animal control (in Green Bay 920.448.3201).

BITE CASES

A BITE is considered ANYTHING which breaks the skin and draws blood. A cat scratch if severe will require a quarantine also. Cats harbor much bacteria in their mouths making bites and scratches easily infected. Bite cases are also brought into the Admit area.

Bite cases require a $308.48 fee. The fee includes charges for a 10-day quarantine/boarding of the animal, completion of a bite report as required by law and three (3) bite checks by a licensed Veterinarian. A bite report must accompany any bite case at the time of Admit.

If the animal is a stray, the fees are not charged to the person bringing the animal in. All that will be required is the address where the animal was found and the bite report.

No Wildlife can be admitted to the Shelter.
If you need to surrender wildlife, check out Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
